if you bend them lots of shiny little flakes of metal fall off
For the purpose of fastening pieces of paper together they are ok although the wire is a bit thin. What I don't like at all is that if you straighten them out little shiny pieces of metal flake all over the place.

Obviously they are paperclips so I'm not sure how much I can say. They are sturdy, and do not break easily.
